Weekly Blog Post_Postmortem

What went right?

I finally got a product for my environment and weapon concepts. Also, gained experience with Photo Shop, Research references, and work load and work flow. Lastly, out of no were I got a contact with an art director from Infinity Ward. It was a shot in the dark but it worked. I'm glad I did it.

What went wrong?

Nothing horrible happened. Every thing that would have made me upset was corrected. Like for the environments; the first one with the fire castle is still my favorite, but everyone liked the new one. So instead of just throwing the first one away I'm going to finish it as a personal project.

What would I change?

Nothing. I feel that every thing I did contributed to my skills. Also, it helped define my skills as a concept artist.

Weekly Blog

Weekly Blog Post

After the milestone check on Thursday; I learned that my environment needed a little pizazz. I am going for a theme "Magical Prison". I can't seam to get close to neither one of the themes. I can make it look magical on the out side by adding color "pretty color" but the design of the prison if left out. Most prisons look dull and boring and trying to spice it up takes away the menacing fell of the prison. I'll work some more on it over the week end.

I've reached the end of the third week and I finally know what my theme will be. I wanna do a future prison. So for this week end I'll research prisons and continue to look up future references. To get ready for my matte painting I rented the ballistic matte painting book.

Weekly Blog Post

To help myself become a better concept artist I've decided to create concepts for weapons and environments. I've decided to do this after a little research on Infinity Ward's Call of Duty seres. This will be a very difficult task for me if I don't "bust my ass" from start to finish. I will continue to post my drawings on this blog so I can seek help when needed.

Weekly Blog Post

I've done more research over the week, and I collected 3 possible game companies that I would like to work for. "The ones I can apply for with experience".

Blizzard Entertainment
Gearbox Software
Infinity Ward

I've been in contact with the senior artist at Infinity Ward "Taehoon Oh" and i learned that they do hire entry level positions. So I will be trying to work under Infinity Ward for my upcoming project.
